Where
are you from?
I was born and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area, although I spent
several years of my life in both Anchorage, Alaska and London, England.
I currently reside in Berkeley, California.
How old
are you?
29
Where
did you go to school?
I studied animation at the Academy of Art College in San Francisco where
I got my MFA in Computer Arts. My undergraduate studies were at the University
of California, Berkeley where I graduated with a BA in Architecture.
How did
you get into animation?
I was a late bloomer, as I really didn't pursue animation as a career
until college. I was studying architecture at Berkeley and enrolled in
a 3D CAD and modeling class. Some of my friends were using the software
to animate in their spare time and introduced me to the idea. Needless
to say, I haven't been the same since. After graduating from Berkeley
and dedicating myself to learning the craft, I enrolled in the Academy
of Art College where I spent the next few years learning to animate. During
this time I was fortunate enough to land internships at Sony Pictures
Imageworks and Pixar Animation Studios. The rest is history.
What do
you like to do in your spare time?
What spare time?
Are you
related to Japanese animator/director
Hayao Miyazaki?
I wish. Besides a similar sounding last name (he spells his with a "z"),
there is no relation. At least not that I know of.
What are
your plans for the future?
To keep animating.
If I continue to grow as an animator and learn new things every day I'll
be a happy man.
